WORLD VISION.

Our Managing Director has personally supported the World Vision Sponsor a child campaign and as an organisation Acacia Group has now decided to sponsor another child.

Acacia Group has recently joined up with World Vision to sponsor a young boy named Brian Nyenje.  Brain is 11 years old and lives in Uganda.  Brian lives in an area which has been affected by years of civil war and has left 90% of the population below the poverty line. 7 out of 10 children are malnourished. The money we donate goes into projects within deprived area like Brian’s hometown and will support him and his community with education, improved sanitation facilities and HIV/AIDs programmes.  We are writing to him, but as you will understand, getting letters to and from him is difficult, but hopefully he will be able to reply to us. The information we do have is that he enjoys music, is fortunate to have a place at a school. We will keep you updated.

CHARITY OF THE QUARTER

Acacia will be looking to support not just one charity this year, but are looking to support a charity a quarter by doing many different fundraising events.

This quarter’s chosen charity is CHERUBS.

CHERUBS is a charity that supports the medical condition Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CHD).  CHD is a congenital malformation (birth defect) of the diaphragm.  This condition occurs in 1 in 2000 – 5000 births and accounts for 8% of all major congenital defects. There is currently no known cause or risk factor, but studies have suggested that it is probably multifactoral, meaning there are a number of factors involved including environmental and genetic.

The charity is working hard to raise more CDH awareness and in turn, more CDH research whilst they continue to support families affected by this devastating birth defect. CHERUBS is run solely by volunteers and depend greatly on donations. Even though they were founded in the USA, they are a worldwide organisation and are at the minute running an appeal for TOTEbag items, these TOTEbags are for CDH parents in the UK.

Acacia Group employees are currently whilst out shopping just getting a little pair of socks, an extra packet of tissues or a set of pens in their trolley.  Something this simple can truly make someone’s day.  More update on this charity quarter at the end of March.

You can visit their website at www.cdhsupport.org or the TOTEbag appeal is on their facebook page.

 COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Community causes are also close to the heart of Acacia Group and these include Eccleshall Pre-School and Longton Ladies Rugby Team.

Eccleshall Pre-school is very important to our Director, Victoria Francis, not only is it her local schooling facility and the place her children attend, but where Victoria is also chairperson after being voted in to oversee the voluntary committee, completely made up of parents.  The parent run committee are what makes the pre-school special as everyone is a volunteer. They are a registered charity and a non profit making organisation and the parent run committee spend a lot of time fund raising to ensure there is affordable childcare provision in the area for families.  Their staff have many years experience in child care and are all qualified to at least level 3 in relevant childcare qualifications.

To support Eccleshall Pre-school, Acacia operate a tuck box where our employees can purchase a little treat to keep them going and all money raised goes to the Eccleshall Pre-school charity. We also support their events and fund raising activities.

For information about Eccleshall Pre-school can be found on their website http://www.eccleshallpreschool.co.uk/index.htm

Longton Ladies Rugby Team – We sponsor the team on an annual basis to support them with their continuing campaign to encourage and support women to play rugby. Based locally, this team relies on sponsorship from their local community and businesses to ensure they can operate and again is run by volunteers.

Next Month..........

We are entering into a scheme which supports the Donna Louise Trust. We will become one of twelve key sponsors supporting their fund raising bike ride from John o’Groats to Lands End. We will publish more information next month including how you can support their cause.

A lot of the workforce at Acacia volunteer their time and effort into community projects and groups, from Scout leaders to fundraising for charities. We aim to support as many projects as we can, even if something small such as some printing or raising awareness. Our aim is to ensure that our marketing can be done with the intention of supporting charities where possible and therefore mutually benefitting both parties. If you think that there something you would like to propose for our consideration, please contact victoriaf@acaciatraining.co.uk.
