The Acacia Foundation
Committed to supporting charitable causes
The Douglas MacMillan Hospice is based in Stoke-on-Trent and provides free care for adults who are suffering with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. In 2009, Acacia forged a partnership with the hospice to raise money for the services they provide to the local area, as they rely upon fundraising and voluntary donations to fund the wonderful work that they continue to do.
To date, staff at Acacia have undertaken bag-packing at a local Morrisons supermarket in return for cash donations and participated in the ‘Be an Angel’ initiative, where donations were given as an alternative to sending Christmas cards. We have also sold raffle tickets for the forthcoming 2010 New Year Prize Draw, with proceeds going to the hospice.
Plans are already being made for Spring 2010, when all Acacia staff will spend a day undertaking voluntary work at Douglas MacMillan charity shops and we shall continue to promote participation in other fundraising events to support this great cause.
